Frequently Asked
Questions

Your first appointment begins with a short intake assessment, usually 5–10 minutes. We'll discuss your health history, any injuries or conditions, your training load, and your goals for the session. This allows us to tailor the treatment specifically to you. From there, your full treatment time begins. You'll always know what we're treating and why.
We bring everything, professional massage table, fresh linens, oils, and all necessary equipment. You just need a clear, flat space of approximately 2.5m × 2m. We can work in a living room, bedroom, home gym, or wherever works for you. We'd recommend having water available for after your session.
Wear or have available comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For most sessions, clients undress to their underwear and are covered with a sheet throughout, only the area being treated is uncovered at any time. If you prefer to stay dressed, that's also fine, let us know and we can adjust our techniques accordingly. There are no right or wrong answers here, your comfort is the priority.
Yes, Muscle IQ is a registered provider with major Australian health funds. We use HICAPS, so you can claim your rebate on the spot using your health fund card. The amount you receive depends on your individual policy and annual benefit limits. We recommend checking with your insurer for your specific remedial massage benefit. Please note: sports massage may not attract a rebate under some policies, check with your fund.
Payment is made at the end of your session. We accept cash, card (via EFTPOS/tap), or bank transfer. HICAPS is available for on-the-spot health fund claiming. You'll receive a receipt via email or SMS.
We ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may incur a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the session cost. We understand that emergencies happen, please just communicate with us as early as possible and we'll work with you.
In many cases, yes, but it depends on the nature and stage of your injury. Certain conditions are contraindicated for massage (e.g. acute deep vein thrombosis, open wounds, certain skin conditions). Always disclose any injuries, conditions, or medications in your intake form so your therapist can adapt the treatment safely. If you're unsure, call us before booking and we'll advise you honestly.
It depends on your goals and training load. For athletes in season, fortnightly or monthly maintenance is common. For acute injury recovery or chronic tightness, more frequent sessions initially are often recommended. For general wellness, monthly is a great starting point. We'll give you an honest recommendation at the end of your first session based on what we find.
